There are several different types of iron supplements available. You may have heard of non heme iron before, that is sourced from plants and heme iron is sourced from animals. Safe+ is carbonyl iron which is different from heme iron, non heme iron or iron salts, all of which are common types of supplements. Carbonyl iron is a highly pure (98% – 100%) iron, prepared by chemical decomposition of purified iron pentacarbonyl. It’s fine spherical particle size and porosity with huge surface area result in very high bioavailability. It is approximately 70% more bioavailable than iron products containing Ferrous sulfate*. Safe+ Carbonyl Iron: a pure form of iron with 100% elemental iron content. High bioavailability means less Safe+ is required to achieve the desired effect in comparison to traditional iron salts such as ferrous fumarate, ferrous sulfate and ferrous gluconate. Some people may experience constipation, diarrhea, and/or vomiting. Stop use if hypersensitivity occurs.

Product looks fine, however when I received it, the box was not sealed. Medicine boxes should be sealed, even though each dose is in a sealed ampule.

Easy to administer, okay tasting. My very picky son doesn’t complain when he takes this. We have tried about 4 other different types of children’s iron supplements which were all a fail.Happy with this and would buy again.Recommend – especially for fussy kids.

Just like the other recent reviews, I realised this product was expired when I noticed big black tarry like globules come out. I checked the expiry and it was written 06/2024, which tells me that likely the product was midhandled and left in the heat or extreme cold. I only realised it was expired when I saw the tar like substance in my baby’s mouth :(. I called the company and obtained an unprofessional voicemail. Noone replied or answers the telephone line. I will be contacting Health Canada. The other thing about this product is that the edges are dangerously sharp once opened to be administering it to an infant or child. Do not buy this product.

My two year old has had to take iron for a while and it is constantly a battle full of tears and tantrums. He takes this no problem. It has made our mornings much easier. Highly recommend.
